Process Technical Services Petroleum Refining Process Studies - Refining Process Services develops and performs process optimization studies specifically targeted to meet the needs of a particular refinery or processing unit. Typical projects have included scheme s tudies to optimize FCC residual oil cracking, gasoline octane values from FCC and reforming, and gasoline composition characteristics. FCC Test Run Services - Refining Process Services has perfected the art of reactor effluent overhead line sampling (often called Reaction Mix Sampling or RMS) so that the difficult task of accurately determining yields from your FCC operat ion can be overcome. The RMS test procedure eliminates the need to consider extraneous streams or rely on product meters when calculating FCC product yields, thus enhancing the accuracy of the data. This technique is ideal for evaluating the effects of feed, catalyst, process and hardware changes. We can send our team of specialists to your site to provide your personnel with the equipment and training necessary to perform this technique on their own. We have evaluated the impact of the following proc ess and revamp changes through the use of the RMS technique. The technique has been modified and improved so that samples can be withdrawn from FCC risers, riser outlet zones, reactors and strippers.
Reaction Mix Sampling Test Runs have been performed at forty-five different refining locations around the world, including refineries in Australia, Japan, South Africa, and Europe. FCC Catalyst Evaluations - Refining Process Services personnel have extensive experience in the formulation and evaluation of FCC catalysts. We have provided many refining companies with accurate, unbiased data on relative catalyst proper ties and performance. This information has allowed refiners to make informed decisions regarding FCC catalyst selection. We have completed numerous customized FCC catalyst evaluation programs for clients from various refining locations. Process Unit Monitoring and Optimization - Refining Process Services has developed techniques for monitoring the technical and economic performance of the FCC, hydrotreating and catalytic reforming units. We use these tools to analyze the operating parameters of the various processing units operated by our clients. The information generated is used to adjust operating conditions to overcome unit constraints and maintain an economically optimized operation. Figure 1 presents an understanding of the various tools and interactions which come into play in the FCC optimization scheme used by Refining Process Services. Our philosophy for FCC unit optimization is described in more detail in NPRA Paper AM-93- 66 entitled, "New Optimization Tools and Technologies For The FCCU." Technical Assistance - RPS engineers provide assistance to refiners in order to solve technical operating problems. This service has been provided by personal consultation or via telephone to over twenty different refining companies. RPS professionals have assisted refiners in avoiding problems which can lead to inefficient operations and reduced profitability. Refining Process Services offers a telephone consulting program whereby our company is held on retainer for a monthly fee and r outinely assists in problem solving for our refining clients. Refining Process Estimates - Refining Process Services can provide computer-simulated estimates of the effects of process parameters in FCC, catalytic reforming or hydrotreating. This service is used by our clients to estimate the effects of changing unit operating variables, processing different feedstocks, or changing catalysts. |
